Balance, Dizziness, & Vestibular Therapy

Dizziness, vertigo, balance problems, headaches, motion sensitivity, and exercise intolerance can make daily life feel unpredictable. At In Motion Therapy, we help patients identify neuromusculoskeletal contributors to dizziness and build a personalized plan to improve confidence, safety, and function.

CONDITIONS WE TREAT

BPPV

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, or BPPV, is one of the most common causes of vertigo. It often causes brief spinning sensations with position changes such as rolling in bed, looking up, bending over, or sitting up. Treatment may include positional testing and canalith repositioning maneuvers. (Mayo Clinic)

Cervicogenic Dizziness

Cervicogenic dizziness is dizziness associated with neck pain or neck dysfunction. It is typically considered after other causes of dizziness have been ruled out. Treatment may include neck mobility, strengthening, posture work, manual therapy, balance training, and vestibular exercises. (Vestibular Disorders Association)

Post-Concussion Symptoms

After a concussion, patients may experience dizziness, headaches, balance problems, visual motion sensitivity, neck pain, fatigue, and difficulty returning to school, work, sports, or exercise. Vestibular rehabilitation can help the eyes, inner ear, and brain readjust after injury. (Military Health System)

Vestibular Hypofunction

Vestibular hypofunction happens when one or both inner-ear balance systems are not working as well as they should. Symptoms may include dizziness, imbalance, blurred vision with head movement, unsteadiness, and difficulty walking in busy environments. Vestibular physical therapy is supported for improving symptoms, gaze stability, balance, and function. (Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy of The Physical Therapy Association)

Vestibular Migraine

Vestibular migraine is a neurological condition that can cause vertigo, dizziness, imbalance, motion sensitivity, nausea, and sensitivity to light or sound, sometimes with or without headache. Therapy may focus on symptom triggers, balance, visual motion tolerance, neck mobility, and safe return to activity. (Cleveland Clinic)

POTS

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, or POTS, affects the autonomic nervous system and can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, rapid heartbeat, fatigue, exercise intolerance, and symptoms that worsen when upright. Treatment often includes education, pacing, and a gradual exercise program tailored to tolerance. (Hopkins Medicine)
